Start with the collection
The important question is not which sensor you own. It is what you are monitoring, where it is, what matters there and what evidence your team needs.
Why LÆFAN exists
LÆFAN is designed for museums, galleries, archives and heritage organisations that need more than a stream of sensor values. It keeps the measurements, collection context, expectations, response and evidence connected over time.
Designed around real collection work
These are the reasons LÆFAN separates readings, context, profiles, response and source evidence in the way it does.
The important question is not which sensor you own. It is what you are monitoring, where it is, what matters there and what evidence your team needs.
Connected sensors, existing logger files, manual Spot Records and suitable building systems can contribute to the same environmental record.
Raw observations, corrections, sensor moves, profile versions and staff response remain distinguishable rather than being flattened into one unexplained graph.
Unknown, missing or insufficient data remains visible as such. LÆFAN does not turn a lack of evidence into a reassuring green status.
Environmental Profiles can provide structure and starting points, but the museum decides what is appropriate for its own collections and context.
Evidence by design
The system keeps the original observation separate from later interpretation. Formal calibration certificates, reference checks and field corrections remain distinct. Placement history is dated. Environmental Profile versions are dated. Reports retain the scope and context used when they were produced.
Explore Reports & EvidenceA managed environment for each institution
LÆFAN is deployed as a managed application environment for the institution. Sites, buildings, rooms, cases, stores and temporary contexts can then sit within that same environmental record, while local equipment uses the connection method that suits it.
The application and environmental record are managed around the organisation rather than mixed into a generic public account.
Separate museum buildings or heritage sites can share the same institution-level record while retaining their own location structure and context.
Direct sources, imports and LÆFAN Edge can coexist. Edge is used where a supported local device or system needs a local connection.
LÆFAN by Beyond1066
Beyond1066 develops and supports technology for museums, heritage sites, visitor attractions and other public venues. LÆFAN applies that venue-focused approach to environmental monitoring: practical deployment, clear day-to-day workflows and evidence that remains useful after the alert has gone away.
